My Number 1 Goal for the Rest of 2014
What is my number one goal for this year?
I love Walmart, don't get me wrong, but I want to be in a job where something matters. Hence, my #1 goal is getting a new job. Maybe not my dream job just yet, but definitely a job where what I do matters. I don't want to spend 8 hours passing items through and pushing buttons. I want to help people.

I'm still not sure what my dream job would be. Mom says i should work with special ed. students. She thinks I have the stuff to handle situations like that. My next big job (if I can nail it) would have to be a substitute teacher for the Fontana Unified School District. I fit all the qualifications except I have to take a test.. It is called the CBEST. It is a test give in Oregon and California that tests your basic skills in Reading Comprehension, Mathematics and Writing. It is thus a 3-part exam. It take it in 18 days. Am I ready for it? Not entirely, but I have been brushing up on my skills, through a practice book. Believe me, by the time the test rolls around, I will be ready.

Normally, I wouldn't put my name in the temple prayer roll, but a temple worker suggested it. I do need all the help I can get if I want to start this new chapter in my life.

So, that is my goal. Before the end of this year I want to be somewhere other than Walmart. Preferably before the two major consumer holidays--Black Friday (Thanksgiving) and Christmas. I want to be out. Let's be honest, who wants to work those days anyways? I don't want to prepare for Black Friday deals. So I suppose my goal is actually changed from before the end of the year or before Thanksgiving. Is that too much to ask?

I felt kind of the same way with one of my last jobs as a telephone survey interviewer. I didn't feel like I was doing much good, and most people on the other end of the line didn't appreciate my work.
ReplyDeleteDid you take the test then? I hope it went well.
I never thought of putting my own name on the temple prayer roll until someone suggested it. I felt kind of odd at first about it. It's kind of hard to ask for help like that sometimes, but if you need it, you need it. I've seen miracles come of it.
thanks Mary for your comment. I did take the test! Although I am waiting for the third test result, I did good enough on the first two...so I have high hopes.
