The Year 2014 in Review

Sorry, this post is coming 1 month late, but I did find it extremely helpful looking back at my 2014 New Year Resolutions.

1. Get good grades in my last semester of college.

I GRADUATED (barely)!!! I don't know how clear it can be.  I completed my schooling.  I know now that if I want to pursue further dreams, I'll have to do more schooling.  But for now I am happy with this accomplishment.

2. Find a job or jobs that will suit me when I leave college.

I thought for a while there that I would never find a job outside of Walmart.  It took me roughly a month/two months to become a certified substitute.  Now (since November 7), with an exception to some days, I LOVE my Job.

3. Read my scriptures daily, in the morning if I can.

I made it a goal in the last half of the year that I would read the Four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John).  I completed that and I followed the @BofM365 Instagram account for the last third of the year.

4. Pray fervently, especially in the morning, both day and night.

I did pray every night.  I am in the process of conditioning myself now to pray in the morning.

5. Go to the temple weekly, work at the temple.

I actually got set apart as a temple worker  in the last two months that I was up in Provo, before I graduated.  It was probably one of the most enlightening experiences that I have ever had.  Since Provo days, I have gone at least once a month.  I know that with Briana here soon, we will be able to go more.

6. Go on dates, weekly if possible.

Looking back at this resolution, I have to laugh at how unrealistic it is, not to mention costly.  I took a look back and I probably went on 6 dates, max, for the whole year. I know, Mission:Unaccomplished.

7. Write in my journal daily.

An accomplishment.  If I missed, it was probably only one or two days in the whole year.  I also wrote my sister Briana snail mail every week.
If only I had handwriting like this.

8. Start and continue to work out in the morning.

Big failure.  Big. I know, I don't want to talk about it.

9. Eat less sweets, fruits instead.

Also big failure.  There was never a day where I thought of this resolution.

10. Practice piano and guitar for the ladies.

If you look back, you will see that I was a choir pianist.  I have to say that calling pushed me to my limits with all the complicated choir music.  I really had to practice.  Since then, not so much.  I'm happy to say that my siblings are becoming more musically inclined.  I'd like to think I started that.

11. Do my best in callings.

Choir Pianist
Sunday School Teacher
Ordinance Worker in the Provo Temple
Family History Teacher
Elder's Quorum President

Doing my best...with the Lord's help.

12. Find ways to enjoy church and get the most out of it.

Okay, Okay.  Yes, it is true.  There was a point at the beginning of 2014 that I wasn't getting the full effect and enjoying church.  I kind of was in the Doldrums of Sabbath Day observance.  I liked Sacrament (most of the time) but disliked the last two hours of church.  So I wrote this resolution.  Since then, church has become more meaningful.  There are those days but, for the most part I have overcome that fear.

13. Be more out going; go to activities, socialize with people and party

I'd like to say that I am really outgoing and that I have a lot of friends, but I've always been to myself.  I do have friends, good ones, and that's all that matters.  I've done my best with this resolution.

14. And like last year, don't go crazy. You're doing fine.

If you know me, you know I've gone crazy; thus, the resolution.  I am proud to say: RESOLUTION, ACCOMPLISHED. haha

15. Oh, and be a good example to my siblings.

I live for my siblings, it is true.  It's hard not being able to talk to them frequently, like in the case with the Briana and recently Sarah.  Mom says that I always want to be included in the loop, and to know what is going on in everybody's lives.  I am always hoping to be their "awesome big brother."  Ask them how I've done with this resolution.

Looking forward to this happy reunion #17days

So, there you go: my report on how well I did with my 2014 goals and resolutions.  This year, I'm going big.  I'm doing my best to make it a great year.  A lot of my 2015 resolutions are the same, or are very similar.  Only, I'm doing a whole lot better this year than last year.  It's been a great first month of the year.  I'm hoping to come out victorious.

Yes,

"Victory, Victory,
Thru him that redeemed us!
Victory, victory,
Thru Jesus Christ our Lord!

Victory, victory, victory,
Thru Jesus Christ, our Lord!"
